Writing has been on my mind lately so I ran in to this article, which gives a top 20 most hated cliches list. And for lack of a better outlet for venting my frustrations, I will blog about this. Here are a few that I hear constantly at work and need no explanation:
1. Going forward
2. At the end of the day
3. 10 lbs of $&*@ in a 5 lb bag
4. touch base
What about the more recent ones? These are like finger nails on a chalkboard for me:
1. epic fail
2. it's like watching a car wreck, you can't look away
3. just sayin'
4. hot mess
5. don't judge
I know, I know we all use them. Who doesn't love to hate cliches, though? What about the ones we love? The classics? Here's a list of my favorites...and by favorites I mean that I laugh to myself a little when someone says it: (sorrry if it's you)
1. dog and pony show
2. reinvent the wheel
3. in my mind's eye
4. champagne taste on a beer budget
5. between the devil and the deep blue sea

Many things warm my heart (Will saying, "I wuv you, mommy" and mostly anything to do with babies and kids) but I literally feel myself melt in to my seat when I read this blog: Pioneer Woman Cooks First of all, cinnamon bun pancakes, are you kidding me? And second, never have I ever thought that living on a ranch and being married to a marlboro man was interesting at all ...until I read this blog. I've always appreciated the simple things in life, maybe that's what I love so much about it. She's a great story teller and picture taker. Click the link, you'll get it.
I've been spending a lot more time on the internet because I'm doing some online classes. I'm taking educational psychology right now. I love what I'm learning about and am engaged by the subject... but find myself distracted every once in a while, a website or an email I need to return, or...

Bullet
- Will has a pet duck. He usually talks about him when we're in the bathroom. He doesn't have a name and he is sometimes blue, red, or green.
- Will does NOT like Howdy Doody. At night, if he hears a strange noise he asks, "Howdy Doody's not coming?" while gripping me...really tight.
- Will has been pretending to ice skate and snowboard around the house :) He likes watching the Olympics. I like figure skating-athleticism and artistry.
- I think we have a snow fairy. We have had all kinds of snow here. I've shoveled my sidewalk every day but then we get another snow...6 inches or so. Somebody came and shoveled them for me while I was at work. It made my day and I'm so grateful. Also a Valentine fairy. I wish I knew who to thank.
- Speaking of grateful, I'm so thankful for my dad. He comes to my rescue...usually before I even realize I need help.

I'm no food critic but I like food. And I like to tell you about it. A friend took me to Northstar Cafe for lunch this week in the Short North, downtown Columbus. I was very impressed. I'm so happy about their philosphy, "we choose locally grown and organic to protect the environment and support producers whose values are aligned with ours..." I highly recommend the Buddha Bowl...and the cookies...and the hot chocolate.

I like buying local when I can. It's just better...for everyone. For Will's birthday, I ordered his cupcakes for school and cake for his party at Resch's Bakery. (And I had White's Pharmacy blow up his balloons.) I don't think Resch's has a website. And they do not take credit or debit cards :) But their donuts are delicious...and their cake...and pretzels.
