Feltman Brothers Baby vs. Luau Baby

Wednesday August 29, 2007

I was teetering back and forth on whether Jesse would approve of the outfit I got for Will to wear to his baby dedication. I wanted something timeless so that I could put it away and keep it for Will. I did make some considerations when shopping because I knew Jesse would be hard to convince...er, please; born in Hawaii and refused to wear shoes until he was 5! I asked the sales lady if she had anything with just a little blue (I really wanted all white) and not a bubble. I knew for sure he wouldn't go for that after our Easter morning scuffle. All my hard work and I still lost. I finally showed him today. He completely protested when I showed him the outfit (except I left out the knee high socks and white leather shoes I plan to add :)

JM: He is absolutely not wearing that!
EM: He absolutely is. What do you want him to wear? Nike gym shorts and a t-shirt?
JM: I'll find him something.

JM: What's wrong with this outfit?

Lunch with Friends and His Best "Somebody Come Get Me" Face

Monday August 27, 2007
We had a fun lunch today with Jennie and Jack. I wanted to catch Will sitting up in his high chair. He's so big!

Buddies
Ok, so here are a series of pictures I took while trying to put Will down for a nap today...
"Where are you!? We are a team! Team Mathews, remember! I can't do this alone!"

"Oh there you are. Hey, what's that?"

"Checking, checking, just to make sure you don't sneak away."

That is all.

Early 7 Month Update...*WARNING* No Details Spared!

Saturday August 25, 2007

I was going to wait until next Friday to give you guys an update because I will be 7 months. But since I'll be out of town and I'm doing some fun things my mom says I better tell you about them now.
Before, I thought I was good at sitting up but now I am REALLY good at it. It is now my preferred playtime position. Now, I no longer sit in my swing while mom makes dinner, I sit on the floor and help! She shares all kinds of fun toys from her drawers. My favorite are the measuring cups. I bang them together and on the hardwood floor. I love the loud noise they make!

(My dad walked in from work and saw me sitting on the floor and said mom was "ridiculous" and laughed at me. She said since I was just learning to sit up she didn't want me to hit my head on the hard floor. Then I heard him ask mom if he should get me a helmet. My grandpa said that, too. I must need one?)

Sometimes while we're cooking dinner and my grandpa is getting home from work, he calls me and we chat on the phone. You can see a full-size video of us talking if you double-click on the video to the left.

So today I took a big boy bath in my bath tub. I also rode in the grocery cart this morning! My mom opened the box of Joe's O's and gave me a few while we shopped. (Funny, she thought it was sooooo embarrassing when she was little and her brother would open a Handi-Snack and eat it in the store, but now she's doing it!) Also, I went to lunch with my mom and her friend Russ who came to visit. I sat in my very own chair at that restaurant! I was happy with my big piece of bread and was very disappointed when mom took it away from me. Why does she always do that? Right when I get it good and soggy and start biting off big pieces, she spoils my fun!

Speaking of no fun, my mom had to tell me "NO! NO!" for the first time yesterday. At first I didn't know what she meant so I just stared at her and then broke the silence by laughing. Then, when I bit her again, she said it again. I am not quite sure yet what this word means but she didn't laugh back at me so this can't be good!

I have also discovered that I can pull down my crib bumper to see what's going on outside my crib. There's a whole world out there to discover. Most of the time when mom comes to get me from my naps, I'm just peeking over my bumper and looking at all the cool stuff in my room. For some reason, my mom thinks this is funny and calls me "Nosey." I also use this to my advantage sometimes. If I'm not really feeling like going to bed, I will pull down my bumper and look for my mom, crying and giving my most pitiful face so that she will not leave me alone. It usually works and she eventually comes back for me. My mom tells my dad she "knows what she's doing" and is not "spoiling" me. Yeah right!

I am still pretty confused about my real name. Mostly because my parents call me so many different things like: Nosey, Beaudreaux, Crazy Cat, Bubba, Silly Willy, Champ, Bear, Honey, Poo-poo Pants, Sweetie Pea, Drools McGools, Jabroni, and the list goes on. I can't quite figure out which of these is really my name? If I had to choose, it'd probably be Poo-poo pants because I get to be naked when they call me that!

Speaking of poo-poo pants, my parents are in great fear of letting me play in my jump-a-roo these days for exactly that reason. They call it an "explode-a-roo." I guess all that gravity...?

In other exciting news, I refuse to take a bottle! This means mom can not leave me for more than oh...about three hours at a time. Mwaa-ha-ha! She and Dad have been trying to get me to take one for a while now but I keep saying, "No way, Jose!" My mom bought me a sippy cup. "Yeah... that's nice" is what I say about that.

We will be going to see my Granny and Poppa next week in Yakima, Washington. I can't wait to see them! I am most excited though about meeting my cousins, Dash and Kaeden. I can't wait to play with them. Kaeden is older and so cool. He is going to be 6 years next month! Dash is still a baby, almost 4 months. I will teach Dashy all the cool stuff I'm learning!

Bartering and My Dazed and Confused Husband

1. The greatest thing about having your own business is bartering on Craig's List, I've decided. I was a little hesitant at first. It's amazing what people trade on there. I think this one is my favorite :) We do need some landscaping (ok, maybe I should rephrase. We need some serious help with yard work! Neither of us have a green thumb. Not even a pinkie) and also some tax advice so let's see what kind of response I get. I talked myself out of bartering for spa treatments and massages...for now. I will go there when Jesse starts bartering for Braves tickets.

2. By the way, we are officially up and running. What made us that way were the spiffy new graphics we had put on our van. For example, see here.

3. Last but not least the conversation I just had with my husband after he had been sleeping for 2.5 hours:
Jesse: "What time is it?"
Emily: "11 o'clock"
Jesse: "In the morning?"
Emily: "Yeah. You slept from 8:30 pm to 11:00 am and while you were sleeping the sun also stopped shining."
Jesse: "Oh. You mean it's not morning, yet?"
Emily: "Yes Rip Van Winkle, that's what I mean."

It's so fun to mess with a sleepy head.

Sittin' Up

Sunday August 19, 2007

I am really good at sitting up now! I started sitting on my own when we got back from WV. Here are some pictures of me doing my thing last Thursday.

First Trip to West Virginia

Wednesday August 1, 2007

My mom and I took a trip to WV and OH this week. I had a wonderful time visiting and meeting family and friends. I got to see my great-grandparents, grandparents, uncles, and some cousins. My mom says I'm a great traveller. I didn't even complain once. While I was away I started waving to people. I'm not really sure about it but I'm really good at it so I just keep doing it.
This is me with my Grandma the Great and Grandpa the Great. My great-grandpa is really funny!
This is me with Poppy Strother. He got me this dog and a whole bunch of toys. I think I'll call this dog Ginger. Poppy had a poodle named Ginger.

Here's me with my Grandpa Strother and Mom.

Here's me with Bonnie and Grandpa.

Grandpa and I spent most of our time "rough housing" and I loved it!

Cheese! My mom and I had fun on the plane!

I spent most of my time on the plane entertaining the people behind me. My mom held me up and I waved and laughed at everyone. They laughed back at me :)

Finally home! My luggage was misplaced by the airline but I didn't care! I couldn't wait to see my Dad! (ps. Hey?! My hair is growing back!)

We really missed eachother!

Six Months

Tuesday July 31, 2007
At my six month check up I weighed in at 16 lbs. 8 oz and 28 inches long! They said my length was the size of a nine month old!
