Finding Nemo

Sunday September 27, 2009

Will is really getting creative with his stories. Sometimes I tell him I'm looking for Nemo when I brush his teeth. Tonight, when it was time to brush teeth, our conversation went something like this:

Will: Dory's in there!
Me: Dory? Where's Dory?
Will: In there (pointing to his mouth)
Me: Oh! What's she doing in there?
Will: Ummm just playing with Nemo!

Another good one from last week:
Me: Who did you play with at school today?
Will: Uuummm... tiger?
Me: Really? What did you guys play?
Will: Pirates
Me: Then what happened?
Will: An elephant sat on me
Me: Then what happened?
Will: I pushed him
Me: Then what happened?
Will: He pushed me
Me: Then what happened?
Will: Mommy picked me up
Me: Then what happened?
Will: I played with lion
Me: What did you play?
Will: Hotchscotch! (Hopscotch) Wike dis, let me show you! (Gets down from my lap and starts jumping)

Manipulation & Interesting Neighbors

Sunday September 27, 2009

We took a trip to the aquarium last Sunday. Here are a few pics:

Will liked playing in the penguin display more than he liked watching the real penguins.

Jellyfish. Living art.

Will's in his room, in his bed, supposed to be taking a nap. But instead he's yelling, "Hey Mommy! It's wake up time! Moommmyyy! It-is-wake-up-tiiiiiiiiiiiime! Mommy I not seepy any moooooooo!" He's also saying, "Shut up!" (Thanks Buzz & Woody) BECAUSE I just told him earlier today that it wasn't a kind word and if he uses it, he'll have to go to time out. "Mommy, I want to think about it in time ouuuut!"

Oh man...he's good.

For the last 7 months I've been hearing something in the mornings that sounds like a wimpy rooster. I finally saw him the other day on my way to work ...crossing my street [insert clever joke here]. And I live downtown.

I've got packin to do. We're movin' in 10 days!

A Day In The Life

Tuesday September 15, 2009

I always ask Will how his day was and try and engage him in some sort of conversation about school. He usually doesn't say much but tonight he was pretty chatty. Here's what I gathered:

1. Noah woke him up from his nap (He actually calls her by her first and last name and it's very cute)
2. He showed Roman his new shoes
3. Mrs. Cecilia is silly
4. Senora Howard gave him medicine and it was so yummy (Benadryl for hives)
5. He ate all of his lunch (I even sent raw carrots and red pepper. Yay Will!)
6. Caroline was not in school today
7. He saw a bumble bee this morning in a tree and played with it
8. He played pirates with Joanie (I don't think there's a kid in his class named Joanie...at least a real kid, anyway)
9. Howard likes Pirates, too.
10. He sang a song to me about little fingers, little hands, and clapping

I think Will is going through a growth spurt. Tonight for dinner he ate a whole quesadilla, a bowl of black beans, broccoli, grapes, and yogurt. And then an hour later had Cheez^Its, G0rilla Munch cereal, strawberries, and half of a banana. And I think he would have eaten more.

He is getting so big. I keep telling him he needs to stop before he gets to kindergarten.

Oh, and Will has been officially potty trained for the last few weeks!

Couple of New Things- Polo and Why

Sunday September 13, 2009

Will and I went to a Polo match at Bendabout Farms today. My first Polo match and Will's too. Lots of fun to watch!

Will asked me if we could go to Target today. He likes to look at toys. Then he wants to take them all home. I told him no, not today. Usually, he just says "okaaayyy." But today he asked the infamous "Why Mommy...Why?"  Hm, he's becoming an independent thinker.  I like it.

One More Thing

Saturday September 12, 2009

I rolled down my window this morning on the way to work and about halfway there caught the sweet scent of chocolate from the M&M Mars factory a few streets over. Heaven! I've been told they're making Twix. Add one more thing to the list of great things about Cleveland.

Racing

"let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith." Hebrews 12:1
Let me just go ahead and say it, it's been a really. long. year. I keep thinking I'm juuust over the hump and as soon as I get there, another challenge awaits. Another hurtful circumstance. Another change.

It reminds me of a workout my coach had me do in high school. 400's. We'd run a 400, get a 10 second break (barely time to catch our breath and put our hands over our head), then run another, and another... he'd never tell us how many we were doing. If anyone asked, he'd say "until I get tired." as he stood there holding his stopwatch and drinking his gatorade. I never asked and I didn't want to know. I always ran every one like it was the last one and it made me a pretty good runner.  I trusted my coach. My coach knew what he was doing.  Every workout had a purpose and after it was over, I always felt so good.

I suppose I'm being conditioned for a marathon. I don't know when the training will be over but I'm trusting my Coach. He knows what He's doing. There is purpose in every single struggle. My faith is growing.

Labor Day Weekend

Monday September 4, 2009
Will and I took a trip to Charlotte last weekend to see our friends, the Goddards. Will mostly argued with Emalynn all weekend :)

Carissa has been one of my best pals for 13 years. We became friends the summer we went to Young Life camp. We were in the same cabin together. Carissa gave her life to Christ that week! She is my sweet sweet friend.

Buckeyes & Mountaineers

Sunday August 30, 2009
I took this picture with my cell phone and posted it on facebook. I think I have been dismissed from several circles of friends :)  This reminds me of another time...
