Naders?

Monday March 17, 2008

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I'm finally getting around to updating our blog. It takes patience... our computer has been on the verge of a breakdown. I think it's a combination of Quick*books and pictures of Will that is sending it over the edge.

You probably heard about the weather here in Atlanta. We spent most of our weekend planning our hide out from the tornadoes that swept through the state. Jesse is rolling his eyes right now. I spent most of the weekend deciding where we should go in case of a tornado and Jesse spent most of his weekend saying, "Would-ja stop! We're not going to get hit by a tornado." So most of Saturday we watched the news HOPING the weather would clear up. Mostly for selfish reasons. Jesse and I had a date planned that had already been postponed two other times. I was really looking forward to it. After three tornado warnings for our county and two warnings sirens later, we headed to Roy's for dinner. I actually had to call Roy's to make sure they were open. From watching the news it looked as if all of downtown Atlanta was destroyed. Not so. So, off to Roy's.

During dinner, I get a text from my friend who was spending the weekend in Charleston, SC, "did you survive the naders? they're headed for us." This is the same friend who says "preggers" for pregnant and "mac and che'" for macaroni and cheese, by the way. I laugh out loud and share with Jesse. He says, "what's a nader?" Obviously not friends with Carissa or from WV. Text number two comes from the babysitter, "call me when you can." I call. "First of all, I want to tell you how lucky you are to have Will. He is an ANGEL." I respond proudly, "yes I know." She goes on, "he sat on my lap and read a book before bed and laid his head against me but as soon as I walked toward his bed he shook his head no and grabbed a hold of me really tight. I put him in bed and shut the door. He is now screaming at the top of his lungs." She puts the phone next to his door so I can hear. "Totally normal. He'll be out in 10 minutes." THIS ladies and gentleman is what he did for the first six months of his life EVERY single night. Holding, rocking, singing, it didn't matter. The next six he was held until he fell asleep. He is now reaching for his bed! He has a little mobile hooked to his bed with four buttons. He chooses the music he wants and lays his head down so sweetly and we don't hear a peep from him! So other than the scream fest, he did great with the babysitter.

Back to the date, Roy's was fantastic. Maybe the most fantastic part is that Roy's will now be serviced by Heaven's Best Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning. We never miss an opportunity.

Tomorrow I'm taking Will to East Cobb park for an Easter egg hunt and we're headed out of town at the end of the week. I'll post some new pictures when we return.

The Circus is in Town!

Sunday February 17, 2008

Team Mathews scored this weekend with some tickets to the hottest show in town. Well, we didn't make it to see the Police for their reunion concert at Phillips Arena, but we did make it to the circus! We don't have a lot of great pictures mostly because we were so in to the show. Will loved it! He loved the lights and was taken by the trapeze act.

Elephants!The greatest show on earth?

Not to be outdone, Will decides to put on a show of his own. We have no idea how the pants came off. This was obviously before I found a belt small enough to fit him.

Just one more...

A sweet friend sent this picture to me and I just love it. I love any picture that gives due attention to those blue eyes.

Walkin' and Sickies

Sunday March 3, 2008

Sorry for the lack of action on the blog lately. I am way behind-I realized I have pictures from the circus several weeks ago that I wanted to post. Anyway, my reason for posting is to let you know that wm is not walking. As you see to the right --> there is a poll asking when wm would take his first steps. I thought FOR SURE he would be sprinting by 13.5 months. I should have known. This little one likes to take his time. He is not in a hurry at all. And that is fine with me. Fast forward four years and we may have a problem, "Mom I don't see what the big deal is?! Why can't I wear pull ups to kindergarten?!"

This weekend he did really great standing on his own. I think he learned this trick while taking care of himself on Saturday. Jesse and I were both down for the count ALL day Saturday. I drug myself from the floor when it was time to change or feed wm. We literally did not move from his play room all day and looked at eachother at least a dozen times saying, "Seriously?" Will entertained himself and played all day. What a little champ. He took two short naps yesterday so he was in bed by 6:30pm (a brief awakening at 2am and slept until 7:45am! Have I mentioned we finally have a good sleeper these days? He's usually in bed by 7:30pm and sleeps through until 7:30am) Jesse was chugging spr*ite and scarfing down crackers by 6pm. Obviously feeling better. I managed to drag myself down to the kitchen to eat A PIECE OF ICE at 9pm and my stomach just couldn't commit. Misery.

Today we were all feeling better and managed to make it to the park. It was the least we could do for keeping wm hostage to his playroom all day yesterday with two sick parents. Will is still recovering from a little something that started on Thursday. His stomach has been a little weak but he seems fine throughout the day. Hoping little guy is all better tomorrow.

Hope to have our circus pictures up soon and some new pictures of wm. I actually measured him today because he looks like he has grown about two inches in the last few weeks. He grew 1/4 inch in the last month. I think he is just looking more like a little boy and less like a baby. It's wonderful and sad all at the same time...
