First Words
Will's vocabulary is pretty small. Basically, he imitates a couple of words but really doesn't have his own. He is really good at saying"woof-woof" though when you ask what a dog says. But, the little rascal won't even say "Mama." If you ask Will to say a word, he just smiles really big and squints his eyes.
We were on our way to a friend's house today and Jesse said, "Will is using a lot of new sounds today." So it shouldn't have surpised us when today while playing at our friend's house, he picked up a telephone, put it to his ear and said "Hed-o" Loud and clear. I think this counted as his first official word. I nearly fainted and then exclaimed, "he doesn't talk you guys... he just said hello!" I squeezed him so hard and everyone clapped for him and he quickly joined in the celebration with a little self-praise.
He is also using a lot more sign language. He has been saying "all done" and signing for a while but today he used "more" and "please"without being asked to do so. He is also teaching us sign language. We have no idea. I think he is babbling in sign language.
We had a fun and busy weekend but this was the most exciting part! More later :)
Walking
Friday May 16, 2008
Here's a short video of wm walking.
Ps. Jesse's nickname for Will is Terry Bradshaw. If you haven't guessed, it's because they have the same hair style. You can really see the resemblance in this video :)
New Shoes, Mother's Day, and Goodbye to Friends
Since Will is a pronator (he walks on the insides of his feet) the doc suggested wearing "real" shoes for more support. So this weekend we found these really cool shoes. No more R0beez for this big boy! It's fun that Will is finally walking because now we can play outside. When he was crawling (you know, back in the day) it was hard to keep him off of the concrete. Poor little knees.
Waaaay more interested in rocks.
Jesse and Will fixed breakfast (scrambled eggs, latkes, and pecan rolls) on Sunday morning for Mother's Day and even cleaned up after. What a treat! After church, lunch, and a nap for Jesse and Will, we headed over to say goodbye to our friends, the Councill's. Jennie and I met just about a year ago at Ann Taylor Loft. Yes, I know it's funny. For the last year, Jennie has been my go-to girl for everything in our area! What a sweet friend she's been. Jesse and I both wish we had more time with them. We are so sad that they are leaving Atlanta but know that Raleigh, NC has great things waiting for them! We will miss you guys!
Saying goodbye to friends- here's us with Jennie and Jack
